End of the year hullabaloo

I don’t know about you, but things get a little hectic at our school this time of the year. Below are some things that we do on those days when some classes are out for Awards Assemblies, powder puff football, or the band trip to Walt Disney World :)

conversation cards

I print these cards off on colored cardstock (something other than red or green, you’ll see why in a minute), cut them out, and hand them out randomly. Students have 30 second to ask and answer, then another 30 seconds to answer, then ask. Then everyone switches cards.  I wonder what else we could use these for?

GREEN CARDS RED CARDS

We use these cards for a couple of games. I print the “green cards” file on green carcstock, cut, and stack. I do the same thing with the red cards, only on red cardstock. We can use these to play a sort of “Apples to Apples” game, which the kids love. They also love to use the red cards to play a game like “Headbandz”. See this post for an example.

Hope you enjoy these!

Buena suerte,

Profe C

Using Piktochart for Cultural Comparison

Wow! It has been a long time since I’ve posted! Let’s just say I’ve been a little busy. :)

There is one activity that the Pre-AP Spanish II classes did this semester that I have been itching to blog about. After learning about dating and eating tapas in Spain, students completed a cultural comparison via Piktochart. Below is one of the better examples of the infographics that were submitted. This one is by Tori S.

piktochart tori s

As you can see, Tori did well on this assignment. I think that the students need a little more exposure to infographics to have an idea of what the final product should look like. You can also tell, since this student usually operates on the Intermediate low level, my students rushed through this project like it was no big deal.

Nevertheless, I think this activity is one that could be developed into something really useful next year!

Saludos,

Profe C
